MAIE: Perfect place for landlords
12 FebCouple of months ago Maie found out that she had inherited an apartment in the centre of Tallinn. Maie is a retired university lecturer and she lives alone in a little apartment near to city centre. Maie is not able to renovate the whole inherited apartment by herself. Also the opportunities to find a buyer for the whole apartment are not very optimistic due to the economic situation in Estonia.
Maie is discussing the issue with her son and they are deciding to rent the apartment out until the economic situation will be better. Although the flat is not recently renovated, the living conditions are fine and the apartment looks nice and cozy. It is complicated to rent out the whole apartment to one person or to a family because the apartment is just too big for that. As well because of that the apartment is not in the conditions that would be acceptable for families. That is why they decide to rent out each room separately to students.
Her son googles for webpages where students can search for the place to live during the studies. He discovers the site FlatmatesEstonia. He makes a quick registration and creates a profile for the apartment. He uploads some pictures and adds descriptions about the apartment. Soon he receives the first request from a foreign student.
